The Diocesan institute named CIDJAP, which stands for Catholic Institute for Development, Justice and Peace, with all her staffs and Priest-Directors, on 18th Oct, 2016 welcomed His Lordship Most Rev. Fr. C.V.C. Onaga the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese on her Maiden visit to the Institution, for the dedication & Installation of the Blessed sacrament in the chapel after it’s renovation and also, to officially inaugurate the new director Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Chinedu. O. Anieke.
The Bishop in his introductory speech welcomed all the faithful who has gathered for the ceremony. He began by blessing the congregation saying “Peace be to you all”. He admonished all saying that any house one enters into the first word should be “peace be with you” that the mark of Christianity.
In his homily, Bishop C.V.C. Onaga declares that our celebration today centres on bringing peace to all because God is the author of peace. CIDJAP according to the Bishop is the heart of project development in Enugu Diocese and whose target is to bring peace and harmony in the world and people around her.
Furthermore, speaking to the staffs and to the various departments, he encouraged them to make sure that all who comes in here, comes and goes in peace because CIDJAP is there for peace and justice. Hence, if you want peace, you must work for it. One should be contended with what he/she has so that you can have peace in your life. And finally, he left the congregation with these powerful words “If you have no peace in your life you have failed”.
The holy Eucharistic celebration continued, the Bishop blessed the tabernacle by sprinkling holy water and incensing it then the Blessed Sacrament was officially installed and exposed in the chapel, which he called the “Chapel of Perpetual Adoration”, CIDJAP.
Our correspondent, on interviewing the New Director of CIDJAP, Rev. Fr. Dr. Chinedu Odinkemere Anieke gathered that CIDJAP which started 30 years ago was the brain-child of the founder Msgr. Obiora Ike under Bishop Michael Ugwuja Eneja of Blessed Memory, who laid the foundation stone.
Fr. Chinedu, also informed us that as the New Director, it has been an upheaval task and that it has not been easy but by the event of the day success can be said to be foreseeable. Also, that here at CIDJAP the main thing is peace, for anything without peace will not have any headway.
Moreover, that CIDJAP was established to bring integral and human development. Hence, through her various departments such as Caritas, Desk, Vocational training center (VTC) etc and other legal projects where they assist the prisons and liberate those who are under physical bondage.
