It was a remarkable day in Enugu Diocese as the Secretariat of the Opus Sanctorum Angelorum, works of the Holy Angels was declared open by Most Rev. Dr. C.V.C Onaga, the Catholic Bishop of Enugu on 9th November, 2015, at Akpuoga-Nike. The event started with a Holy Mass presided over by his Lordship, Most Rev. C.V.C. Onaga.
The Bishop in the introductory part of the mass welcomed the dignitaries from Rome, Very Rev. Fr. Oachim Welz, the Prior General for the Order of the Holy Cross of Opus Sanctorum Angelorum and Rev. Fr. Titus Kieninger (ORC) of the same order. He congratulated and thanked the Diocesan Chaplain of Opus Angelorum, Rev. Fr. Dr. Ignatius Emefoh for achieving such feet. His Lordship further thanked the people of Akpuoga community, where the secretariat is located, for their generosity and large heartedness. The Bishop then welcomed other present; Priest, religious and lay faithful both from the diocese and outside the diocese.
During the homily, the Bishop explained explicitly that Opus Sanctorum Angelorum is a pious society like other piours societies, not an order of the Holy Cross and admonished everyone to tap from the spiritual goods that flow therein.
After the installation of the Blessed Sacrament in the Tabernacle at the chapel in the secretariat by the Bishop, the Diocesan Chaplain of the society, Rev. Fr. Dr. Igantius Emefoh in appreciation, thanked the Bishop for the fatherly support he has always given the society since its inception in the Diocese.
He further thanked the Priests from Rome who sponsored the erection of the secretariat. He also thanked everyone present; the Priests, religious and lay faithful. Fr. Emefoh thanked the people of Akpuoga community and in a special way, the Parish Priest of St. Mary, Akpuoga, Fr. Boniface Onah.
The Prior General of the Order of the Holy Cross and the religious ordinary of Opus Sanctorum Angelorum, the Order that propagates the Society universally, thanked the Bishop for approving that the Secretariat be erected in his Diocese and for his support so far.
The Bishop gave the final blessing at the end of the mass, blessed the Secretariat and the entertainment followed.
